Internet Help for Parents
The problem, as many of us would eagerly admit, is that we feel we don’t really understand the online world. Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter are bewildering enough, without even mentioning 4chan and TOR. Furthermore, we don’t feel that we have the technical skills to navigate this complex landscape.
Here is a website to give some help and guidance.

“Today, Backpage was shutdown. It’s a huge step. Now no child will be sold for sex through this website,” tweeted Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

Kitsap Youth in Action
Run by Melody Collingsworth, Kitsap Youth in Action-Support Specialist
Wow, you
rock! A thousand bars of soap labeled with trafficking hotline numbers in thirty-eight minutes. It must be a
record.
We
appreciate your support of Freedom13 to help end sex trafficking of American
youth. If anyone says anything negative about today’s teens, we say, “Students encouraged
us by being thoughtful, concerned about today’s issues, and willing to make a
difference.” It was fun working with tomorrow’s leaders.
Thanks!

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month
Here’s an update of the problem:
· Human Trafficking is the 2nd-leading crime in the world — including the U.S.
· An estimated 1.3 million go missing in the U.S. every year, and 33,000 remain missing at any given time.
· If a missing or homeless child is not recovered within the first 48 hours, there is a 1 in 3 chance they will be trafficked or solicited for sex.
· 12-14 years of age is the average age of entry into child “prostitution” in the U.S.
· If a person under the age of 18 is involved in commercial sex, they are being trafficked.
· If a person is over 18 and has a pimp, they are being trafficked.
· The majority of trafficking occurs in hotels and motels.
· Although there is always a demand for sex, sporting events and large events that draw a great deal of people – particularly men – increase the demand for sex-for-sale.
· 77% of all child trafficking victims will go on to participate in adult prostitution.
